How Do I Leave A List?
Remember these commands must be send to the address of the mailing list server or manager NOT the address of the list. You should receive acknowledgment that you have finished using the list. This is an appropriate time to delete the message you received initially about joining the list (if you kept it).
listproc, listserv, mailserv, majordomo

What About Lists Not Using Mailbase, Listserv, Majordomo, Mailserv, Listproc?
Sometimes you will see lists where the administration address for a list whose address is listname@host is given as listname-request@host. This often means the list is administered by hand. You can send a message asking for help to listname-request@host and should recieve, though there may be some delay, a reply explaining how to join the list. It is also worth trying this formula if you just have the name of the list itself and none of the other mail servers seem to be in charge of the list.
