Maria N Stukoff is an artist, curator and project manager working in the field of media art. Her current art practice explores mobile media and game play.

Lecturing on a variety of new media art and film/video courses at universities in Australia from the early 1990's, she moved to Manchester, UK in 1998, joining the Innovation for Digital and Electronic Art (IDEA) organisation. As an associate IDEA artist she co-initiated the IDEA studio with fellow IDEA artist's, providing vital studio access and thinking space for the experimentation and development of new digital media work in Manchester at that time.

During her association with IDEA she managed a number of successful community-based art projects and new media workshops, working in collaboration with the British Council, Thailand, FACT in Liverpool and Time-based Arts, Hull. From 2000-2002 she lectured at Salford University on the 'Creative Technology' MA programme and the 'Computer and Video Game' BA course before joining Media Training North West at the BBC, Manchester to manage a new innovative European Social Fund programme: The Game Plan.

In September 2004, she started a part research / part practice-based PhD prgramme at MIRIAD, Manchester Metropolitan University, investigating: Mobile and Wireless Networks as Public Art. Alongside her research - she worked as Programme Director for Game Alliance Ltd (an independent association for game development in the NW of England) between 2004-2007 and has published a variety of game related articles in magazines such as DEVELOP. Since then, she has foster a successful collaboration and 'Art & Industry' partnerships with ONTECA, a Liverpool based media and game lab - who are collaborators in the development of a unique Bluetooth game system supported by the Arts Council of England NW and the BBC Big Screen, Liverpool.
